2010 Feature Project
This church in Boardman Ohio was in such bad shape that total demolition of the dome structure was being considered. The church dome had an existing 25 year old 3/4" spray foam roof with two layers of urethane coating which had never been maintained during it's entire 25 year life span. It was deteriorated to the point that it had multiple leaks as well as damage from animals. There were actually raccoons living inside the dome that had entered through one of the many holes dug through the wooden overhang.
Mid-America Coating Systems LLC completely removed the entire existing roof system and decking down to the structural framing. We then replaced any deteriorated wood framing as needed, installed all new wood slats, installed all new wood decking, secured all new weatherproof sheeting, applied a 2" layer of new spray urethane foam and protected the structure with two layers of aliphatic urethane protective coating.
Mid-America Coating Systems LLC excels at these type of projects. With 30 years of installation experience, we have acquired great organizational skills and have become extremely efficiency with large and difficult projects. This entire project from start to finish took only 22 working days with a total of five workers. During that time not a single church service was delayed or even interrupted.
Geodesic Home Insulation Problem Solved!
This home owner was very happy living in the house her father had built but there was just one problem. The home was originally insulated using fiberglass batts. Now, with heating and cooling cost escalating she needed her home to be more energy efficient, she needed additional insulation. In addition to this problem the existing shingles on the home were aging and beginning to leak and needed to be replaced. She soon discovered how expensive it was going to be to install new roof shingles and there was still the problem of needing additional insulation. After doing some research she found that Mid-America Coating Systems LLC installed spray foam insulation and also installed roofing systems so she made the called.
The solutions was simple, install the spray foam to the exterior of the roof directly over the existing shingles. She knew the spray foam was the answer she was looking for to solve both problems. Now the home is not only very well insulated and far more energy efficient but it's also watertight and will never need new shingles again!

Concrete Dome Storage Silos Waterproofed
Doomed Dome Roof Saved from Demolition
The engineers at this grain storage and processing facility had a problem. Their series of four concrete grain storage silos were leaking causing damage to the products stored inside. It was peak harvest time and hundreds of grain trucks were coming and going into the plant to process their crops. The facility engineer needed a solutions fast but also needed and experienced company that could handle the project and avoid any disruption or damage to the truck traffic and nearby structures.
Mid-America Coating Systems LLC cleaned all four concrete domes, applied a water based primer, and three layers of a high solids, high build acrylic coating to the surface of the domes. We also primed and applied two coats of paint to all attached steel ladders, stairs and railing.
This road salt storage dome was leaking causing the salt to freeze together during the Winter. The frozen chunks of salt were difficult to handle and caused damage to the salt dispersing equipment. The engineers at the facility needed a solution to make the structure watertight. The answer, 2" of spray foam and two layers of an aliphatic urethane protective coating.

Solution for Building with No Existing Insulation
This section of a century old building was uninsulated and the owners needed to reduce their escalating energy expenses. But there were a few problems. First, the fact that no insulation existed. Second, the entire building was covered in asphalt shingles and the owners wanted this section of roof to match the rest of the building when completed. And third, the interior ceiling was covered in plaster lathe and could not be removed. They called Mid-America Coating Systems LLC for a solution. After a through review of the building structure and it's intended use, management at Mid-America Coating Systems LLC presented the correct solution to the owners. Remove the existing shingle roof and wooden decking underneath to expose the ceiling cavity. Next, install 4" of spray applied closed cell spray foam over the plaster lathe between the roof rafters, re-install the wood decking and matching shingles.
So.....Need any other bright ideas?

Simple Solution to a Hard Project
A previous contractor was call in to figure out how to insulate this 157 year old church attic but walked away from this project saying it was to difficult and couldn't be done. Then Mid-America Coating Systems LLC was called and the solution was simple. When Dennis Davidson, President and Sales Manager, first saw this project he knew Mid-America Coating Systems LLC was the perfect contractor for the job. With 30 year experience he immediately knew we could insulate it using a combination of closed cell spray foam and spray cellulose insulation.
The church was very concern about the safety of our workers as well as their maintenance personal falling through the attic floor which is 45 to 60 feet above the church floor. After we installed 41/2" of closed cell spray foam, it was completely safe to walk around the attic. We finished the project by applying a 2" layer of spray applied cellulose insulation. The cellulose also provides an approved fire resistant barrier for use over the spray foam.
